Quick-to-the-Plate Duel: A Competitive Time-to-Plate Drill
A small-sided, bracket-style competition where pitchers go head-to-head on time to the plate from the stretch. A stopwatch keeps score, but a pitch only counts if it's a strike — so the winner is the pitcher who's fastest AND under control, not the one who rushes the ball into the dirt.
⏱ ~20 min📋 1 no-score warmup round (3 pitches), then best-of-5 duels; ~12–20 competitive stretch pitches per pitcher total
What you'll need
- Pitching rubber / mound
- Base at first
- Catcher or net with taped strike zone
- Baseballs
- Stopwatch or phone timer (one per pitcher)
- Whiteboard or paper bracket
