Anchor the Base: Lower-Half Isolation to Cut Chase Rate
A footwork-isolation hitting drill that quiets the stride and locks the base so the hitter stops leaking weight forward and swinging at out-of-zone pitches. Feed a scripted mix of strikes and clear balls; the hitter strides, sticks the front foot on every pitch, and only finishes the swing on strikes. Trains the mechanical root of chasing.
⏱ ~20 min📋 3-4 rounds of 15-20 pitches (scripted ~60% strikes / ~40% clear balls), full reset between rounds
What you'll need
- Pitching machine or L-screen for coach front toss
- Home plate with marked strike zone (chalk or pool-noodle uprights)
- Stride pad, agility dot, or towel for front-foot landing
- Bucket of 15-20 baseballs/softballs (optionally numbered or colored)
