Keep total max-effort throws capped — roughly 15–20 — because velocity is a quality you train fresh, not a quality you grind. When throws start dropping on the radar, the session is over; continuing just teaches the arm to move slow while tired.
Spacing matters as much as the reps. Treat a velo day like a bullpen: at least 24–48 hours before the next one, always bookended by band activation on the front and an arm-care cool-down on the back. In-season, most outfielders need this far less often than in an off-season block, where you have the recovery runway to actually build.
Who it's for — and who it isn't
This is an advanced, physically-mature-athlete tool. Reserve max-intent weighted-ball work for roughly 15–16-and-up throwers who already own a clean crow hop and have a base of arm conditioning.
